The challengers were required to showcase their skills in a Next Generation 320 Excavator, a 259D3 Compact Track Loader and a 301.7 Mini Excavator.
• The Big Dig - Dig a trench to grade using 2D technology
• The Mini Load & Go - Load, dump & return to hit payload/pass count
• Mini Masters - "Play" the course & put the ball in the hole
With the chance to win a trip to Japan for the regional titles, from there winners will head to the Global Operator Challenge finals at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2023 in Las Vegas, where Caterpillar will crown one operator world champion.
More than 10,000 operators from 30 countries competed in the first-ever Global Operator Challenge in 2019-2020 — with Canadian Jaus Neigum taking home the title "best in the world" at the finals held at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2020.
With the chance to hold the title of “best in the world” and a trip for two to any Caterpillar facility worldwide on the line, the Hastings Deering challenge attracted competitors from across the state, some travelling from as far as Townsville.
With FarmFest being well known in the industry for its dedication to Queensland Farming, combining the interest with the Global Operator Challenge was a huge success for Hastings Deering.
With over 2,000 individual companies and organisations on a purpose-built site, the field days delivered an exceptional field day experience for Queensland’s farming professionals and families.
