Contamination control is a reliability and durability initiative aimed at providing superior value to Caterpillar's customers. This superior value can be realised through the avoidance of component failures and consequent longer component and product lives, as well as optimised productivity throughout the product's life cycle.  

In recent years, Caterpillar has placed increased emphasis on this initiative. We have established tough "roll-off" cleanliness specifications for our products' fluid systems and we are proud to say, we are currently meeting these specifications for all products shipped from our plants worldwide.  Caterpillar is committed to contamination control now and will remain so in the future because there is no other approach that can provide such outstanding benefits for such a relatively small effort.

For our customers to receive the full value we build into our products, contamination must be controlled throughout the products's life cycle.  Therefore, we need dealer and customer support in keeping our products as clean, throughout the product life cycle, as they are when they roll off our production lines.
