Berajondo Earthmoving – Tried and trusted in the Wide Bay/Burnett
15-Feb-10

Sal Bonanno founded Bundaberg based
company Berajondo Earthmoving and Haulage in 1986 to provide services to
residential, industrial, agriculture, government and commercial sectors
throughout south east and central Queensland. Starting out with only
a handful of machines, Berajondo has grown over the years to become one
of the most successful and respected earthmoving and civil companies in
the Wide Bay region, recently completing projects at the North Bundaberg
Shopping Complex, QC Bricks Industrial Park, Bargara Views residential
estate and Kensington Park commercial estate.
Berajondo’s extensive heavy machinery
fleet comprises over 30 machines including dozers, excavators, scrapers,
graders, articulated dump trucks and compactors. The company’s equally
successful haulage arm is built on the fleet of quad and tri axle floats,
double deck and B Double livestock trailers.
A long time Cat® advocate
and Hastings Deering customer, Sal’s first Caterpillar® purchase
was a new 140G in the early 1990s. Currently operating twenty Cat
machines, the company’s newest acquisition is a 140M AWD (all wheel drive)
grader which was involved in the completion of Stage 4 of the Kensington
Park Industrial Estate development in Bundaberg.
The 140M’s optional AWD system
expands the machine’s versatility and performance by utilising dedicated
left and right pumps for precise hydraulic control. The infinitely
variable pumps and motors maximise torque in each gear, delivering the
most power to the ground and increasing productivity in the most demanding
applications.
Although not yet born at the time
of Berajondo’s establishment, son Greg Bonanno grew up surrounded by his
father’s earthmoving equipment and developed a love for machinery at a
young age. Working for the company on weekends throughout his teenage
years, Greg was clearly adept at operating Berajondo’s spectrum of machines,
becoming a full time operator in 2002. He has been operating the
new grader since its delivery in June 2009.
“The 140M is good machine to operate
and handles well,” said Greg, “Cat equipment is good for us as it’s
always reliable and is better than most.”
The new grader is due to start
on Stage 5 of the Kensington Park Estate before commencing civil work on
a new caravan park site in Emerald. Berajondo Earthmoving’s excellent
customer service and proud edict of ensuring every project has a quality
finish has seen them become a respected figure in the Wide Bay/Burnett
earthmoving industry and the company’s continued association with Caterpillar
and Hastings Deering will help drive the development of the Queensland’s
burgeoning coral coast.
